A Few Summer Essentials

The lovely Jenn of Hopelessly Devoted To Makeup recently wrote a great post on her favourite summer products which I really enjoyed reading, so I thought I'd do a similar post and share some of my own summer essentials.

Dior Eau Svelte Body Treatment Fragrance, St Tropez Lotion & Elemis Monoi Moisture Melt

Dior Eau Svelte Body Treatment Fragrance - This a fairly recent purchase. It's basically a spray on fragrance and treatment in one which moisturises and smells beautifully fresh and light. The subtle scent is really long lasting and it's safe to use in the sun.

St Tropez Bronzing Lotion - I've tried loads of different self tanners from various different brands but always end up coming back to this one. It's easy to apply, leaves me with a non-orange, believable colour and it doesn't have that horrible fake tan smell.

Elemis Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt -  I use this stuff all year, but particularly enjoy using it during the warmer, summer months because it's delicate, exotic smelling fragrance is like summer in a bottle. The oil can be used all over your body, as a treatment for dry hair and also works really well as a cuticle oil. It hydrates brilliantly without leaving skin feeling greasy or oily.

Liz Earle Foot Scrub & Foot Spritzer

Liz Earle Foot Scrub - I always try to take pretty good care of my feet regardless of the time of year, but pay even more attention to them during the summer when I can't hide them in winter boots. Liz Earle's foot scrub is one of my favourite's because it contains loads of lovely scrubby particles which do a great job at softening and smoothing and it smells fantastic too.

Liz Earle Foot Spritzer - Cools and soothes, hot tired feet brilliantly and leaves them smelling sweet and fresh. It's a lovely product to spray on, on warm summer days and would also be perfect to take on your holidays as well.

Leighton Denny Viva La Diva and Do me A Flavour

Bright Nail Colours - I'm a sucker for bright red and orange nail colours and Viva la Diva and Do Me a Flavour are a couple of current favourites. Both shades are incredibly glossy and juicy and both look great on tips and toes.

Ojon Rub Out & Redken Color Veil

Ojon Rub Out - If I wash my hair everyday, it turns in to a dry, frizzy mess, so I use dry shampoo between washes to prevent oily roots and add volume. Ojon's Rub Out is what I'm currently using and while it does work well at freshening hair and adding body, I think it's a little bit overpriced. There are lots of other dry shampoos out there which cost less and do the same thing. I am enjoying my bottle at the moment, but probably wont be re-purchasing.

Redken Color Extend - I have colour treated hair which fades in the sun, so I use Redken's Color Extend to help protect it. It smells fresh and doesn't leave behind any sticky residue after I've applied it.

Liz Earle Skin Tonic, Thalgo moisturising fluid & Nars pressed powder

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic - This contains a whole load of natural ingredients which help to sooth and revive. I've been using it whenever my skin feels a bit hot and needs cooling and refreshing. I've also transferred some of the product into a spritzer bottle so I can mist the product over my face and neck and it really does feel lovely.

Thalgo Ultra Matte Moisturising Fluid - I have oily skin anyway, so keeping shine under control during the warmer months is a bit of a nightmare for me. I'm currently using Thalgo's moisturising fluid which the lovely Miss A of Beauty Boudoir sent me, and it's really nice stuff. It feels light, smells fresh and does a pretty good job at controlling oil without making my skin feel tight or uncomfortable.

Nars Pressed Powder - I always use Nars loose powder to set my make up, but the large pot isn't particularly travel friendly, so I keep a pressed version of their powder handy for touch ups and to blot any shine throughout the day.

Do you have any essential Summer products ?

  1. Such beautiful pictures :))) I'd love to try the St.Tropez lotion, as well as some Liz Earle products. I really haven't gotten into summer/vacation mood, so it would take some thinking to come up with my summer essentials!
