A Few February Favourites

Chanel Rose Ecrin & Illuminating Powder

Chanel's Rose Ecrin and Illuminating powder have both been firm favourites this month. Rose Ecrin adds a a pretty hint of natural colour to cheeks, and the Illuminating powder creates a beautiful, very subtle glowy finish. I keep meaning to write a post on the Illuminating powder, but the horrible, drab and grey weather here at the moment is making swatching impossible.

NARS And God Created The Woman Palette

The NARS And God Created Woman palette is a fairly recent purchase, but I've found myself reaching for it almost everyday since getting it. There are some really lovely neutral shades included that work together perfectly to create a variety of different looks. Alhambra, Kalahari and Galapagos are the shades I've found myself using the most over the past couple of weeks, and also Coconut Grove, which works really well as a liner shade.

All of the shades are nicely pigmented and apply and blend well, and used with the included Smudge Proof eye shadow primer, they last really well throughout the day. Overall, it's fantastic little palette.

Le Metier De Beaute: Fig & Armani Eyes To Kill

I'm still slightly obsessed with purple eye shadow at the moment, so on the days I haven't worn colours from the NARS palette, I've been reaching for Le Metier De Beaute's Fig.The shade is beautifully pigmented and rich, and the formula is excellent. I've only tried a couple of colours from the brand's eye shadow range, but I'm really impressed with both. They're exceptionally smooth and apply and blend like a dream.

I'm still working my way through a few sample sized mascaras, but my favourite out the three I'm currently using is Armani's Eye's to Kill, which adds a nice amount of volume and length and holds up brilliantly throughout the day. Will definitely be purchasing a full size tube when my mini size runs out!

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick: Rose & Chanel Rouge Coco: Jersey Rose

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Rose has been a favourite in the lipstick department this month. My dry lips don't normally do well with long-lasting lip colours, but the Opaque Rouge formula is excellent. It's comfortable and feels light weight, and lasting power is pretty impressive. 

Chanel's Jersey Rose has also been a favourite this month. The peachy pink shade works surprisingly well on my fairly pigmented lips and like the Opaque Rouge formula, the Rouge Coco formula feels comfortable and non-drying. 

So those are a few of February's favourites, I can't believe it's almost March already, this month's flown by! Are there any particular products or colours that you've been favouring this month?

A Few January Favourites

 

I’ve been favouring sheer, hydrating lipsticks this month and Chanel’s Antigone and Chatecaille’s Bourbon Rose have both been colours I’ve reached for often. Antigone is a pretty raspberry red/berry shade and Bourbon Rose is a natural, cool rose pink. 

Laura Mercier’s Sweetheart Lip Glace has also found a home in my make up bag. I’m normally not much of a gloss fan, but I’m actually really liking the non-sticky formula and pretty hint of pink glossiness this adds to my lips.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Delicate Hummingbird and Laura Mercier’s Caviar stick in Twilight have both been firm favourites in the shadow department this month. Delicate Hummingbird is a beautiful purple taupe and Twilight is a fantastic dark metallic grey, which works well as a base for other shadow shades and as a liner.

Becca’s Romanticism Eye Tint is a product I’ve used frequently since purchasing last year. It adds a hint of sheer, bronze-y, mauve colour to my lids, and like the other tints from range, creates a perfect base for other shadow shades. 

The mascara I’ve been favouring this month is, Laura Mercier’s Lash Building Mascara. It separates, adds a little bit of volume and darkens lashes well, but still looks fairly natural.

Blush has been a pretty boring affair throughout January. I’ve stuck to one colour almost everyday, Chanel’s Orchid Rose. The shade adds a touch of peachy colour to my cheeks and leaves a pretty, subtle glow. On the days I haven’t worn this, I’ve used NARS Douceur.

A Few April Favourites

Chanel Orchidee & Revlon Raspberry Pie & Peach Parfait Lip Butters

Chanel Orchidee Rouge Coco Lipstick - A pretty pink-y red shade, which adds a nice pop off colour to lips without being over the top. Formula and finish are both excellent and long-lasting, too.

Revlon Raspberry Pie & Peach Parfait Lip Butters - I've been reaching for these quite a bit since I picked them up last month. Raspberry Pie is really pigmented, so I've been applying with a very light hand. Used in this way, it leaves a hint of stain like colour on lips, which is fairly long-lasting. I'm not a fan of the slightly gritty texture of Peach Parfait, but the colour is great.

NARS Douceur & Cactus Flower

Nars Douceur Blush - A great, neutral pink-brown shade. I've been reaching for this almost everyday to add a touch of really natural looking colour to cheeks.

Nars Cactus Flower - Is a vibrant reddish coral, which looks suprisingly natural applied. It adds a pretty, fresh flush to cheeks and holds up well on my oily skin. Swatch & review here.

Becca Eye Tints: Pewter & Baroque and MyFace Eye Pencil

Becca Romanticism & Pewter Eye Tints - I've been using Romanticism on a daily basis to add a wash of long-lasting, natural colour to lids. Pewter is more pigmented and is perfect for creating a quick and easy smoky eye. Swatches here & here.

MyFace Eye Liner Pencil - I picked this up last month after my brown, Dior eye pencil ran out, and I'm impressed with how creamy this it and how well it applies and lasts.

Leighton Denny Fell The Burn & Rampant Rose & Chanel June

 

Leighton Denny Feel The Burn & Rampant Rose - Feel The Burn is a rich, terracotta red shade and looks fab on fingers and toes, and Rampant Rose is a rich, berry colour, which is very similar to Chanel's April. Swatches of both here.

Chanel June - I'm still loving orange and peach-y shades at the moment and have been sporting them on nails quite a lot. June is a pretty, soft apricot colour, which applies brilliantly and dries to a gorgeously glossy finish. A perfect spring shade!

Giorgio Armani Shine Lipstick 04 - The first lip colour I've tried from Armani. I'm impressed with the creamy texture, light weight feel, and pretty, dark rose colour this leaves on my lips.

Chantecaille Bourbon Rose Lip Chic - A beautiful, sheer, rose pink shade. Review and swatch here.

Burberry Rosewood Lipstick - One of the items I received in last months Glossybox. It's a lovely rose brown colour and the formula is excellent. I'm looking forward to sampling some of the other gorgeous goodies from Burberry after trying this.

Dior Night Dust Palette - I've had this palette for a while and I haven't used it much, as I find the combination of shades to be a bit odd. I've rediscovered it this month, though and have been using the mauve and rich brown shades quite a lot. The pigmented black also works well as a liner.

Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara - I received a generous sample size of this with my last Armani order and I absolutely love it. It adds a nice amount of length and volume, and doesn't smudge, flake or smear. I'll definitely be ordering a full size tube when my sample runs out.

Armani Lasting Silk Foundation - I wont ramble on about this as I already reviewed it here. It's a fantastic medium coverage base and feels amazingly light weight.

Make Up For Ever Full Cover - A tiny amount covers blemishes, marks and redness brilliantly.

Chanel April & Splendeur Nail Colours - I've skipped soft, Spring shades this year and gone straight for some of the brighter shades in my stash. April is a fantastic creamy berry/wine shade, and Splendeur is a glossy, bright pink.

Leighton Denny Do Me A Flavour -  I'm also loving orange nail colors at the moment, and Leighton Denny's,  'Do Me A Flavour is one of my favourites. It's vibrant, juicy and perfect for Summer.

Chanel Rouge Noir, Laura Mercier Foundation Powder & Clinqiue Black Honey

Laura Mercier Foundation Powder - Is by far the best powder foundation I've tried. It covers brilliantly, feels and looks really natural, and holds up well on my oily skin. My current compact is running low at the moment, so I've mainly been using what I have left as a concealer on areas which need extra coverage.  

Chanel Nail Colour: Rouge Noir - A classic Chanel shade and one of my favourite, vampy, autumn/winter colours. Swatches here.

Clinique Black Honey Lip Duo - I first tried Black Honey years ago, and wasn't really wowed by the colour. After giving it another go almost ten years later, I have to say, I've completely changed my mind about the shade. The Berry colour looks incredibly natural and the Almost lipstick formula feels light weight and lasts well. Swatches here. 

MAC Satin Taupe & Yogurt and Clinique High Impact mascara

MAC Satin Taupe & Yougurt - I've been using individual shadow shades more than palettes over the last few weeks and two of the colours I find myself reaching for often are Satin taupe and Yogurt.

Clinique High Impact Mascara - Is the first mascara I've tried from Clinique in quite a while. It does a fantastic job at thickening and lengthening, the brush is great and it leaves my lashes feeling soft and natural. Review & photos here. 

Chanel Monte Carlo & Korres Lip Butters in Quince & Wild Rose

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine: Monte Carlo - The soft, balmy formula is absolutely lovely and the sheer, juicy, strawberry red colour is gorgeous. A HG lipstick? I think so! Swatches here. 

Korres Lip Butters - They feel wonderful, hydrate really well and both shades leave a pretty, sheer colour on lips. These are the nicest balms I've tried in a while, and they're surprisingly pigmented too.

August Favourites

R&R Diffused & Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara

Rock and Republic Eye Shadow in Diffused - I was lucky enough to win this recently in a lovely giveaway over at Makeup merriment, and I've been using it a lot over the last few weeks. It's a gorgeous, shimmery, pigmented taupe which applies and blends beautifully. I really wish I'd discovered the brand when the products were still available, it looks like there were some lovely eye shadow shades on offer.

Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara - This was one of the items I received in August's GlossyBox. It thickens and lengthens well, looks pretty natural and doesn't smudge, flake or irritate my eyes.

Chanel Coral Reef Glossimer & La Pausa Lipstick

Chanel La Pausa Rouge Coco Lipstick - Is a pretty, peachy coral with golden/coppery shimmer. It's the first shade I've purchased from the Rouge Coco range and I'm in love with the long lasting, light weight, creamy formula. Swatches here.

Chanel Splendeur & Miami peach

Chanel Miami Peach & Splendeur Nail Colours - Both are gorgeous, bright, summery shades which I've been reaching for a lot over the last few weeks. Swatched here.

Myface Mymix Foundation, Becca Flamenco & Becca Terracotta

Myface Mymix Foundation - A great medium coverage base which lasts well and doesn't emphasize blemishes or pores. Review and swatches here.

Becca Bronzing powder in Flamenco - This was on July's favourites list too. It's one of the nicest bronzing powders I've used. Finely milled, applies beautifully and the colour is incredibly natural looking. Because Flamenco is quite light, I'll probably be able to use it through the winter too, to brighten up my pale, pasty skin. Swatches and review here.

Becca Creme Blush in Terracotta - I often have problems with Cream blushes because they tend not to last long on my oily skin, but Becca's seem to hold up really well. They apply and blend with very little effort and leave cheeks with a hint of really natural looking colour. Terracotta is a perfect mix of apricot and brown and is one of my 'go with everything' blushes. Swatches here.

Bobbi Brown Bronze Shimmer Brick, Chante's Ecstasy & Bobbi Brown Flamenco

Bobbi Brown Bronze Shimmer Brick - Adds a shimmery hint of bronzy colour to cheeks and the individual colours also double up as sheer shadow shades too. Swatches here.

Becca Flamenco Pressed bronzing Power - I was lucky enough to pick this up in a sale recently for £6.00! It's a beautifully soft powder which adds a lovely, non orange, sun kissed glow to skin. Review and swatches here.

Chantecaille Ecstasy Blush - Is the first product I've tried from the Chante range. The colour is really pretty and the formula is fanatastic, incredibly soft, pigmented and long lasting. Swatches here.

Max factor False Lash & Becca Baroque & Vicuna

Max Factor False Lash Effect - Adds a decent amount of volume and length to lashes and still looks fairly natural.

Becca Eye Tints - I'd been lemming a couple of these for quite a while and finally ordered a couple of shades this month (Baroque & Vicuna). Both are really pretty, natural shades and both work well as a base for other shadows. Swatches of both shades here.

EL Double Wear, Becca Gisella & Rosita

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - I haven't used Double Wear for a while because I've been happy with the Clarins Everlasting I've been wearing. I thought I'd give it another go this month though because the weather's been warmer and my skin's more oily than usual. I forgot how good this stuff is (it really doesn't budge and covers everything), but it does feel quite thick and heavy in comparison to Everlasting.

Becca's Gisella Sheer Tint Lipstick - You may have noticed that I haven't opened the tube in the photo and the reason for that is, there's barely anything left. I've worn and worn the soft, caramel shade since I bought it and now there's only a small nub of the lovely balmy lipstick left. I'll definitely be re-purchasing the shade when it does finally die on me. Swatched here.

Becca Rosita Lip Tint - I'm not a huge fan of gloss because I don't like the sticky, tacky feeling they leave on lips, but Becca's lip tints aren't too bad. Rosita is a pretty, shimmery Rosy pink shade.
